Long time, new name. Let's play catch up!

Who missed me? 😲😏

First thing, a name change. What was once Soleil Daniels: Day by Day became Random Sh*t, When I Feel Like It but is now Random Writings of a Woebegone Wretch.

Has a nice ring to it? Right? Sad and doleful but in a sing-songy kind of way. Ha!

Second thing, I did a little cleaning up. Deleted some posts that either sucked, were too whiny, or just didn't strike my fancy at the time of reviewing it.

Now, I know I've been away for some time, but I return with news. Hopefully exciting news to some who are unaware of said news, for whatever reason whether it be Facebook hiding page posts, a flooded Twitter feed, or maybe you're not following me on either of those. I've also joined Wattpad in my absence from blogging. Though, truth be told, I've not kept up very well on my Wattpad account—blame it on depression, writer's block, laziness, whatever. But . . . enough of that. I'll provide links at the end of the post if you want to check them out.

So, the news:

I've published works and been included in two anthologies—both of which are sold for charity. One of the three works I've published is one that a few followers of this blog (when it was Day by Day) were quite interested in—HALFBORN. Yes, after eight long years of work, I published my vampire story back in October. Here is a list of my works and the anthologies I've been included in. In future posts, I plan to post snippets from long works or full flash fiction pieces.

First off, back in January of 2017, I published my flash fiction collection 'Images From a Wandering Mind'. Please be aware, this collection of stories is not for the faint of heart. It is disgusting, horrible, twisted, sick, and beyond disturbing. It's a horror collection that is gory at times and is intended for MATURE readers only.

Images From a Wandering Mind

Next, we have the first of the two anthologies, which is 'One Million Project: Thriller', published February 19, 2018. This anthology is actually one of four themed anthologies. The others include Fantasy, Fiction, and a general non-themed edition. Thriller is filled with 40 short stories, ranging from ghosts and ghouls to murderous spouses, supernaturals to your run-of-the-mill psychopaths, and rounds off with some unique detective stories. It is tame in comparison to my collection listed above, so lots more reader-friendly. And, hey, if 40 stories from 40 different writers isn't enough, all profits go to charity! Two charities, to be exact—UK Cancer Research and EMMAUS (a charity for the homeless).

One Million Project: Thriller

Moving onto the next, it ties in with the last. I decided, for promotional reasons, to publish the story I'd written for the Thriller anthology on its own on May 16, 2018. The story is titled 'To Save Lives', and it's actually a spin-off short story to my 'Halfborn' series, focusing on two types of vamps from that world—the Abominates and the Wraiths. Obviously, if you haven't had a chance to read 'Halfborn' this means absolutely nothing to you, but while Wraiths make a brief appearance in the self-titled first book of the series, Abominates are mainly just mentioned. So, this is a brief look at a couple of Abominates and a little plan one has that kind of goes awry.

To Save Lives

On September 22, 2018, I was beyond grateful to finally join fellow writers from the group Writers Poets and Deviant or WPaD in print with 'Weirder Tales: An Omnibus of Odd Ditties'. The story I contributed is titled 'Token' and is about a fishing trip gone way beyond wrong. 'Weirder Tales' is a collection of stories similar to episodes of The Twilight Zone or The Outer Limits. Half of the profits received from sales go toward MS research charities—the other half go toward the production of future anthologies.

This leads us to the long-awaited, for only few I'm sure, release of 'Halfborn', which went live just before Halloween on October 27, 2018. I know I hyped the book up far too early in the process and got a handful of people excited for it, only to take nearly a decade to release it. I'm sure most of that handful gave up waiting or forgot about it long ago, but it's finally here. It's book one in a series. Don't worry, I don't plan to take nearly as long to get the second installment out. 'Halfborn' is meant for mature readers as there are graphic violence and, *gasp*, sex. I mean, it is a vampire story, and while I can enjoy a sweet, innocent, non-graphic vampire read, I, personally, enjoy my vamps bloody and sweaty. 😉

Halfborn

So, I've supplied you guys with some awesome reading material, and even if you're not interested in my personal work, those anthologies are top-notch. Really, check them out. Please also keep in mind that indie and self-published authors rely on reviews. Also, remember to share your favorite authors with all your reading friends.
